Nicalibre - 1st International Hip Hop Festival Nicaragua - New Entry!!!
While in El Salvador, I had heard that B-Girl Mizfit was organizing the first international Hip Hop Festival in Managua, Nicaragua, called Nicalibre. Since I am Nika libre – free Nika, I knew I had to go!
The day started off with a B-Girl workshop on stage, while the graf writers were painting outside the venue. Mizfit works with the “Semaforo Kids.” Those are the kids selling stuff at the traffic lights in Managua. She teaches them breaking and a bunch of the kids had shown up at the event.
After the B-Girl workshop there was a crew battle and a solo battle, judged by Milo aka Lil’ Boy from El Salvador, B-Girl Miwa from Brazil and B-Boy Lego from Miami who was actually born in Nicaragua, but hadn’t been back since he left in his early childhood years.
Mizfit did an amazing job, she managed to find sponsors at the last minute and it was a great event!
